Supportive Periodontal Therapy

Supportive periodontal therapy is prescribed after your periodontal disease has been successfully controlled. We do this to help to prevent and minimise the reoccurrence of destructive periodontal disease in the future.

Your appointment will range from 45mins - 1hr, and they will be scheduled every 3 months. This is in line with S3 periodontal guidelines for supportive periodontal therapy.

Your appointment will include:

• Measuring your gums to identify any potentially reoccurring disease sites early

• Measuring the distribution of bacteria and removing it thoroughly

• Re-treating relapsing sites if your oral hygiene remains within the required boundaries for health
